When Crysencio Summerville exit could be announced by West Ham as first agreement struck
Crysencio Summerville is finally edging towards the exit at West Ham United.
Once relegation to the Championship was confirmed, there were several players expected to have played their final game for the Irons.
Summerville was one of them, with another in Mateus Fernandes already leaving for Tottenham in an £85million deal.
The winger was always going to be sorted later, having been called up to represent the Netherlands at the World Cup.
After a breakout tournament for Summerville, interest only grew.
Perhaps surprisingly, though, it's Roma who have stepped ahead of the competition to get a transfer done.
Crysencio Summerville agrees West Ham United exit
West Ham Zone has covered reports that Roma have had a £34m bid rejected already.
Despite that, Summerville isn't holding back.
A Bola has now reported in its print edition that an agreement in principle is already struck between the winger and Roma.
The Portugese newspaper state on Sunday that the Italians are not taking risks, and are doing everything to finally close the deal.
If successful with West Ham, an announcement is said to be days away.
West Ham fans won't care about Crysencio Summerville exit
If you asked fans last season when Summerville was ripping up the Premier League before his injury, they'd have been gutted about an exit.
But, the truth is, it's all about Jarrod Bowen.
Now that the captain is confirmed to be staying at the London Stadium, whatever happens around him is miniscule.
Summerville has had bright patches, nobody is denying that, but he isn't consistent enough at this time in his career to be a huge star.
Nuno Espirito Santo will be under no illusions that big-name players have to leave, but everybody would have kept Bowen over Summerville.
With another £40m-plus coming into the building to take sales past £100m, West Ham now need to use it.
Bowen isn't enough by himself, he needs real proven stars around him in the Championship if the Irons want success.
Of course, with limited sales also made so far, things are looking up, but that can all change in a matter of days.
