What Edson Alvarez wants from West Ham exit as Tim Steidten involved in talks
Tim Steidten brought Edson Alvarez to West Ham and now he could help with his sale.
The Mexican international's Hammers career was rocky. It started off well, but performances would later dip.
He was no in Graham Potter's plans last season and instead was sent out on loan to Fenerbahce.
The Turkish club decided not to activate their buy option, and now West Ham have a headache regarding his sale.
There have been some rumblings over whether Alvarez could remain in E20.
But, new reports have now shared the likely outcome over the future of the 28-year-old.
What Edson Alvarez has told Tim Steidten amid West Ham exit talks
Alvarez and Steidten appear to have already discussed his future quite extensively.
FC Koln are one of the clubs looking to snap up the Mexican international, and Steidten is currently working there.
According to BILD in their 8 July print edition, Alvarez wants to find a club "that guarantees him participation in an international or European competition".
A wish that he has reportedly shared with Steidten.
After finishing 14th in the Bundesliga last season, Koln would not fall into that category.
However, if Alvarez cannot find an employer who meets that criteria, BILD report that a transfer for less than £8.5million could be "possible".
If not, the chance for a loan move could appear and with him having a good relationship with Steidten, Koln may very well be his next club.
Alvarez was recently knocked out of the World Cup by England, so discussions over his future could now begin to move forward.
He will no longer have focus on the international tournament this summer transfer window.
Would Alvarez be open to the Championship?
While Alvarez has indicated he is willing to give up on his European hopes should no option become available, could that mean he would stay in the second tier?
Unfortunately, that looks to be out of the question for the Hammers with BILD stating: "Alvarez is unlikely to want to play in the English Championship."
Additionally, the Irons do not want to keep him around with a sale or loan wanted in E20.
Overall, this looks to be the end of the line for Alvarez in East London, and Steidten, who brought him to England, may provide a full-circle moment by taking him off West Ham's hands.
