What Crysencio Summerville will do next as contract signed to quit West Ham United

Crysencio Summerville isn't hanging around to say his goodbyes at West Ham United.

After looking for all the world he was heading for Serie A giants Roma, Summerville has now taken his career in a very different direction.

The 24-year-old is inking a long-term contract with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, after they're widely reported to have agreed to pay an initial fee of around £55million for the winger.

Summerville will now become one of the most expensive players in Saudi Pro League history, and will no doubt be expected to produce at a very high level there.

It's no doubt a move that will raise many eyebrows, as the six-cap Netherlands international opts to spend his prime years outside of European football.

However, it's clear that he's very keen to get going on his new adventure.

When will Crysencio Summerville link-up with Al Hilal?

West Ham Zone covered Fabrizio Romano's trademark "here we go" for Summerville's move to Al Hilal on Wednesday.

There will certainly have been many West Ham fans urging the transfer to go through ASAP, with the fee they're now getting for Summerville potentially unlocking some big transfers of their own.

Likewise, Summerville isn't waiting around now that he's on his way out of the London Stadium, as evidenced by Belgian transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Tavolieri reports that Summerville has now signed his Al Hilal contract on Thursday evening, and will officially become their latest new signing.

It's also stated that Summerville will now immediately head for Al Hilal's training camp in Austria, and is expected to arrive there within the next 48 hours.

So, who are Al Hilal and will Summerville walk into a starting role there?

Summerville will be working under a top coach at Al Hilal

Formed in 1957, Al Hilal have played in every season of the Saudi Pro League since it was birthed in 1976.

Al Hilal, translating from Arabic to "the crescent moon" in English, are nine-time winners of the Saudi Pro League, with their most recent league title coming in 2023-24.

They're one of the biggest and most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, and have been under the management of former Lazio and Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi since last summer.

Summerville will have some familiar names to football fans as his new team-mates there too, with Joao Cancelo, Theo Hernandez, Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Karim Benzema and Darwin Nunez all playing for them.

But, Al Hilal's captain is 34-year-old left winger Salem Al-Dawsari, and he's coming off scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists last season, with 26 and 24 goals netted in his previous two campaigns prior as well.

So, Summerville might not absolutely walk into the starting lineup, but given Al-Dawsari's age and the fact his contract expires next summer, the Dutchman is of course expected to take the baton from him down Al Hilal's left fairly quickly.
