West Ham United are still somehow yet to make a splash in the summer transfer window.

Relegation from the Premier League obviously slows plans down, but fans are getting restless at the London Stadium.

Ben Nelson is the latest link for Nuno Espirito Santo, but action is needed sooner rather than later.

Nelson could be available after Leicester were themselves relegated to League One, with the defender one of many possible exits.

West Ham fans want action after Mateus Fernandes was sold for £85million, but more exits could be next.

Despite Crysencio Summerville being on the verge of an exit, Jarrod Bowen's new contract could be the biggest signing of them all.

Although, Nelson will have something to say about that.

West Ham clearly want new defenders, but in all honestly, their entire squad needs work.

Nelson is a central defender, but can also play on the left, meaning he could cover exits for Konstantinos Mavropanos and El Hadji Malick Diouf.

The Daily Mail has reported that Nelson has informed Leicester of his wishes to quit this summer.

It's stated that his £10m pricetag is putting suitors off, with two bids rejected as well as interest from West Ham and Man United.

At 6 foot 5, Nelson could be the new towering defender at the London Stadium.

What is next for West Ham?

West Ham Zone have covered new reports that Nuno is targeting young Arsenal defender Jaden Dixon.

That makes it very clear that defenders are on the radar.

Weirdly, nobody from that area of the pitch has been sold yet, so it may be that West Ham are planning ahead for the expected.

Although not done yet, Summerville will follow Fernandes out of the London Stadium, so another winger and midfield option is needed.

But, if Nelson is available and has told Leicester that he wants out, West Ham are smart to try and get ahead of the curve.

You have to be proactive in the Championship with transfers, not reactive, or you will be left behind.

Another sale may be on the cards first, but West Ham have to start spending soon, and it could start with Nelson.
