Why West Ham could get breakout talent as Jaden Dixon loan deal mooted
West Ham United would be signing one of Premier League 2's best young defenders in Jaden Dixon.
It feels as though we're on the verge of West Ham's summer transfer window really bursting into life.
Crysencio Summerville appears close to finally securing his long-touted exit following relegation, and that could open up some significant funds to bring new players in.
However, West Ham will need to be shrewd with how they recruit this summer, and 19-year-old Arsenal defender Dixon would be somewhat of a gamble given his lack of senior experience.
The teenager has made just the one competitive appearance for the Gunners in their 2-1 win over Mansfield Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup last season.
And now, with the youngster turning heads at academy level, Arsenal may just be ready to put faith in West Ham to really kickstart his senior career.
What's been said about West Ham's interest in Jaden Dixon?
West Ham Zone has been covering West Ham's reported interest in Wolves defender Bastien Meupiyou, as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to bolster his centre-back ranks.
The Hammers have already moved on Michael Forbes to Dundee United this summer, whilst Axel Disasi is now back at Chelsea respectively.
And, with 65 goals conceded in the Premier League last term, the Irons will have to be considerably better in defence in 2026-27 if they are to be successful in their promotion push.
According to an X post from The Standard reporter Sam Tabuteau, West Ham are weighing up a loan swoop for Arsenal's Dixon.
He turned professional with the Potters in May 2024, and made six competitive appearances for them before joining Arsenal in February of this year.
Dixon has already made a big impression in the Gunners' youth ranks, and his underlying numbers in Premier League 2 last season prove why he could be primed for a bigger role than some may expect if he joins the Hammers.
Why Jaden Dixon had PL2's best claims in 2025-26
An England youth international as well as being a highly-rated Arsenal talent, Dixon looks to have a very bright future ahead of him.
The future could be now though, as he showed in both Stoke's and Arsenal's youth ranks last term.
As per FotMob, no right-back (the position they list as his primary one) made more defensive contributions per game (12.7) or clearances (6.89) than Dixon did in Premier League 2 in 2025-26, in which he played 12 times.
On top of that, he also ranked in the top 2.9 percentile amongst his positional rivals for his 24 aerial duels won, as well as placing in the leading 2.3 per cent for his 10 blocked shots respectively.
Dixon also ranked alongside the best in his position in that league for recoveries (54), interceptions (17), successful passes (375) and duels won (73) respectively.
So, whilst he might initially find himself in a backup role if he was to join West Ham, Dixon's numbers suggest he would absolutely push whoever was ahead of him in the pecking order for playing time.
