Why West Ham may now need patience after Gustavo Sa transfer latest
All the noise in Portugal has been pointing towards Gustavo Sa moving to West Ham United.
The links to the midfielder first emerged from the Iberian country as the Hammers look to snap up their first new arrival.
West Ham Zone have covered several updates, with Sa not in Famalicao's most recent pre-season game.
That had seemingly been a hint that his future lay elsewhere from the Northwest of Portugal.
But there could yet be plenty of twists left in this transfer amid new information out of the country.
And West Ham fans may now to utilise patience as they await completion of their first transfer.
What is the latest on Gustavo Sa to West Ham?
Nuno Espirito Santo will be pushing to get new transfers through the door as the Hammers eye promotion back to the Premier League.
It has perhaps been a slower window than the Portuguese manager would have hoped in terms of both incomings and exits.
There is now around just three weeks until West Ham's first competitive game of the 2026-2027 season, when they face Portsmouth in the EFL Cup on 8 August.
And as stated, Sa had looked to be one of the first new faces at Rush Green, with a £17million agreement even mooted.
O Jogo has now shed some new light and it may not be the best news for the Irons.
The Portuguese newspaper reports in its print edition on Thursday that his move to West Ham was basically a "done deal" days ago.
But, instead of it progressing, Sa has been reintegrated at Famalicao, with fresh links to Sporting CP.
With competition emerging for his signature and the outlet sharing he is still part of the Famalicao group despite him missing the last pre-season friendly, it may not be as straightforward as it seems.
Should West Ham be panicking over their business?
The slow approach from the West Ham board when it comes to transfers is not ideal, but there is little room to panic right now.
The Irons still have a highly capable squad for the Championship and have only lost Mateus Fernandes so far.
If there are a few more exits before any new incomings, then it might be the time to start getting worried.
But, as things stand, there are not that many holes that need filling, and if Sa is a top target for West Ham, patience might be required.
