West Ham weigh up Fikayo Tomori transfer amid N’Golo Kante speculation
West Ham United are considering a move for AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported online (21 July) that the Hammers are readying a move for the ex-Chelsea defender who has made 142 appearances for Milan since his move to the San Siro in 2021.
It comes as Julen Lopetegui’s side saw their £15million offer for N’Golo Kante – also once of Chelsea – turned down by Al-Ittihad (via The Athletic, 19 July).
Kante is thought to be happy in Saudi Arabia, although could be tempted by a Premier League return.
West Ham United to sign Fikayo Tomori of AC Milan?
It looks as though a deal for Kante could prove incredibly difficult.
Al-Ittihad are clearly not desperate to sell and the 33-year-old is likely to demand high wages should he complete a move to the London Stadium.
Therefore, the Hammers might be better off avoiding a move for the Frenchman, especially considering his age and time away from a major European league.
Meanwhile, a move for Tomori is likely to excite supporters, and is definitely a transfer which the club should be pushing to complete.
The Englishman has impressed since making the move to Italy, winning the Serie A with the club during his debut season, and plays in a position which is most in need of strengthening at the London Stadium.
West Ham had an atrocious defensive record last season and were always going to need to bring new defenders in under Lopetegui.

Following the arrival of Maximilian Kilamn, adding Tomori to the squad could see the Hammers line up with a much-improved centre-back pairing next season.
In other West Ham news, the club are in talks to sign a £15million-plus Olympian.
