West Ham want to sign striker who Alan Shearer says is a ‘handful’
Despite having signed four attackers already this window, West Ham are still eying another.
West Ham remain at risk of relegation from the Premier League, and their business in the winter window has certainly reflected those fears.
The Hammers have signed four new players, with Nuno Espirito Santo still looking to add more fresh quality to his squad.
Given the fact that West Ham have the worst defensive record in the Premier League, signing a centre-back remains on the cards, with Axel Disasi closing in on a move to the London Stadium.
However, the latest reports suggest that the Irons aren’t done yet when it comes to bolstering their attacking options.

West Ham target former Aston Villa striker
Goals haven’t been an issue for West Ham for the most part this season, but the Hammers have perhaps lacked someone to score them consistently.
Jarrod Bowen is the leading scorer with seven, and then Callum Wilson and the recently departed Lucas Paqueta sit behind him in the scoring charts with five and four, respectively.
West Ham are looking to change that, with a report from Fichajes stating that they have set their sights on signing former Aston Villa star Jhon Duran.
The Colombian left Villa halfway through the 2024-25 season to join Al Nassr, before he was then eventually shipped out on loan to Fenerbahce, where he has managed just two goals.
Duran has stated that he wants to remain with the Turkish outfit, though it remains to be seen if that happens with Fenerbahce closing in on a deal to sign Angers striker Sidiki Cherif.
However, if a deal is to be had, Alan Shearer will no doubt be a fan of it.
Alan Shearer says Jhon Duran will offer something different at West Ham
It’s difficult to remember the last transfer window in which the Hammers weren’t in desperate need of a new striker.
And while they have signed Taty Castellanos and Pablo, there are still some minor concerns in that area of the squad.
Duran would change that, having previously showcased his ability to score goals in the Premier League, while also impressing Shearer in the process.
Back in 2024, when Duran scored for Villa in a 2-1 win over Man City, Shearer said via The Rest Is Football: “He was a right handful as well yesterday. I thought the defenders couldn’t handle him. I thought he was absolutely superb.”
West Ham certainly need another nuisance up top, and one that can score goals.
