West Ham want to sign Jonathan Bamba, winger could leave Lille
West Ham are in the hunt to sign 25-year-old Lille winger Jonathan Bamba, according to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins.
Writing via his personal Twitter profile on Saturday night [21/08/21], the Amazon Prime reporter, who is followed by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, claims the French forward is being eyed by the Irons.
He wrote: “Jonathan Bamba could leave Lille by the end of the transfer window. Three clubs are interested and are closely monitoring his situation. Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham.”
Pace and goals
Bamba is an exciting attacker who is well-known for his speed and ability to get among the goals in France.
He scored six goals and registered nine assists last season as Lille beat the odds to pip PSG to the Ligue 1 title, and his off-the-ball running was every bit as important as well.
Bamba would certainly offer the Irons a new dimension along the forward line, but is he really required?

Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals started last weekend’s win over Newcastle United behind Michail Antonio, while there are also the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko and Manuel Lanzini waiting in the wings.
The main priorities for West Ham before the end of deadline day is a striker, midfielder and centre-back.
If we can get Bamba to rival Benrahma or Fornals for a starting spot, then great.
But Bamba shouldn’t be brought in at the expense of the aforementioned positions.
