West Ham want to seal Elye Wahi transfer, Marseille stance shared

West Ham have “concrete interest” in Marseille striker Ely Wahi but the Ligue 1 outfit are reluctant to sanction his exit, according to L’Equipe.

Wahi was a summer transfer target for the Irons before his move to Marseille [Fabrice Hawkins] but that interest has reignited at the London Stadium.

The French striker has notched just three times this season but if the Irons are to strengthen their attacking options amid the latest injury to Niclas Fullkrug, they may have to look elsewhere.

Elye Wahi would be a welcome addition to West Ham

While it may appear unlikely at this moment, situations can change in an instant during January and it will likely be one that West Ham monitor over the coming weeks.

Should those circumstances change and the Hammers can muster up a deal, it would be an excellent bit of business and would address a lengthy concern that has lingered over the London Stadium.

For far too long now, the Irons have lacked a goalscorer up front and added to that, they’ve lacked any form of youthfulness in that area and Wahi would have the potential to address both factors.

His spell at Montpellier saw him notch double figures for goals in consecutive seasons, showcasing his ability to score goals and at just 22 years of age, he has plenty of time on his side to grow as a player.

Graham Potter will no doubt be keen to see a handful of new faces come through the door this month in a bid to revive their season.

In other West Ham news, Potter has a decision to make after what this player did against Aston Villa.
