West Ham want to seal Ramsey transfer, he admires Graham Potter already
West Ham are interested in a move for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey this summer, with Graham Potter already a big fan.
The Hammers are keen to add a midfielder to their transfer business, with decision-makers also confident of striking a deal for Southampton man Mateus Fernandes.
Potter’s options have been bolstered by the arrivals of several players already this summer, with goalkeeper Mads Hermansen the latest to arrive at The London Stadium.
But the Englishman is hoping to flesh out his squad further, with a trip to Sunderland on Saturday (16 August) set to kick off the Premier League season.

Jacob Ramsey a fan of Graham Potter
Ramsey has excelled for Villa since his breakthrough in 2020, making 167 appearances in the years since.
The midfielder’s most prolific league campaign came in the 2022/23 season, when he scored six goals and provided seven assists, but injuries have caused the Englishman trouble since then.
Three separate injuries saw Ramsey make just 16 Premier League appearances in the 2023/24 season, and the 24-year-old is yet to rediscover the form that placed him on the radar of the league’s richest clubs.
Last season, the England youth international found himself often resigned to appearances off the bench, with the form of Morgan Rogers often denying Ramsey a starting role.

That has opened the door to a possible departure for the midfielder this summer, with West Ham among the clubs interested in offering a more prominent role.
According to The Athletic (12 August), Potter admires Ramsey, and the feeling is mutual.
But the 24-year-old would prefer a move to Newcastle United, with the Magpies project and the chance to work under Eddie Howe currently proving more attractive.
Where would Ramsey play for West Ham?
Whilst Ramsey has spent much of his time on the pitch over the past two seasons situated on the left, it is more likely he would be brought in to play in midfield for Potter.
West Ham have lined up in a narrow formation for much of pre-season, with the width provided by full-backs El Hadji Malick Diouf and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
But Ramsey could form an interesting partnership with Diouf by drifting to the left to combine with the Senegal international and affording him more space to deliver his deadly crosses.
This is certainly one to watch at the London Stadium.
