West Ham United would accept ‘extraordinary’ Konstantinos Mavropanos bid amid fresh transfer tal

West Ham have labelled Konstantinos Mavropanos “not for sale” unless a massive offer is made for him amidst reported interest from several Serie A clubs, according to Hammers News.

Italian giants Napoli and Inter have both been credited with interest in Mavropanos in the last month, following a string of impressive performances from the Greek defender.

However, the Hammers look set to stand firm in their bid to keep the 26-year-old – whose contract runs until the summer of 2028 – barring an “extraordinary offer”.

The report quotes a West Ham source as saying: “Mavropanos is not for sale unless an absolutely extraordinary offer comes in, which Italian clubs can’t afford”.

West Ham would do well to hold onto Konstantinos Mavropanos

West Ham’s firm stance on Mavropanos’ future is encouraging.

The former Arsenal centre-back has demonstrated his qualities for the Hammers this term as David Moyes’ men look to seal European football next season – either through their Premier League finish or a shock Champions League return by winning the Europa League.

Mavropanos has been key to West Ham’s efforts in this regard. He is a rock at the back, tackling a whopping 82.4 per cent of players who have attempted to dribble past him in the Premier League this season – per FBref – as well as making 1.57 interceptions and losing just 0.21 challenges per 90.

The towering 6’3″ central defender has also played an important role in possession, making 0.71 switches per 90 as he helps the Hammers shift the ball across the pitch in attack.

Unless that “extraordinary offer” arrives, West Ham will be much better off with Mavropanos in their ranks than without him.
