West Ham United want to sign Youri Tielemans this summer
West Ham are set to make an ambitious move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer after his move to Arsenal went cold, according to The Mirror.
The Belgian is entering the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium and had been expected to leave the club with the Gunners leading the charge for his signature, before they signed Fabio Vieira from Porto instead.
Now with the player’s future still up in the air, David Moyes is ready to step in and make a move for the 25-year-old to try and bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
The Hammers are well aware that Tielemans could see a move to the London Stadium as a “sideways move” but that hasn’t put them off making a move.
The former AS Monaco man has made it clear that he wants regular European football going forward and with the World Cup coming at the end of the year, a spot in the Europa Conference League with the Irons is better than nothing.

The Hammers absolutely should be prioritising a striker signing this summer, but after that it’s the midfield that needs the most work.
Declan Rice is world class but beyond him it doesn’t look great. Tomas Soucek’s future is up in the air, while long-time captain Mark Noble has retired and Alexander Kral’s loan move was so poor that he won’t be returning.
That leaves limited options for the boss and explains links to the likes of James Ward-Prowse and John McGinn this summer too.
But while it’s ambitious a move for Tielemans, who Emile Heskey recently described as “fantastic“, its also the most realistic midfield move of the lot considering his contract situation.
It will be tough but with seemingly limited competition in the market for him currently, the Hammers could be set to pull off a big coup if they can get this deal over the line and get him into the squad for the new season.
