West Ham United want to sign Stevenage midfielder Makise Evans – ExWHUEmployee

West Ham United are “very interested” in signing Stevenage midfielder Makise Evans and are likely to make an offer this summer, says ExWHUEmployee.

Evans is currently still under a scholars contract at the League Two side after becoming the youngest player to ever play for their senior team, and is attracting attention from a number of sides.

West Ham are among the interested parties, as are Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brighton, but the Hammers are big fans and are likely to make an offer to bring him to the London Stadium once the transfer window opens.

“Makise Evans of Stevenage is a player the club are very interested in,” he said (26 April).

“There is competition but the club are keen and at this stage are likely to make an offer.”

Talent

West Ham have had a bit of a clear out of their youth ranks in recent times, with several academy players being allowed to move on and other choosing to against the club’s will.

But that hasn’t held the Academy back in the slightest, with the young Hammers winning the FA Youth Cup with a 5-1 win over Arsenal earlier this week to show we’re still one of the best places in the country to develop talent.

Evans will surely see that and at 16-years-old know that he is capable of coming into the team and making an impact, while also seeing how the likes of Declan Rice and Mark Noble have come through into the first-team and become heroes.

He’ll also look further down the timeline and see the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Jermain Defoe, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick and more who have come through and gone on to have tremendous careers elsewhere too.

This could well be the best place for him and with the interest high, you can bet we’ll be pulling all the strings to get him to sign on the dotted line this summer too.
