West Ham United want to sign Norwich City star Jonathan Rowe as London Stadium transfer update emerges in January

West Ham want to sign Norwich City winger Jonathan Rowe in the January transfer window, according to The Standard.

The publication reported on its website on Thursday (11 January) that the Hammers are looking to target home-grown players such as Rowe.

The 20-year-old attacker has banged in 11 goals in 27 appearances for the Canaries in all competitions this season, and is now approaching his 50th game for the club.

Rowe, who is an England Under-21 international, has 10 league goals to his name, having also scored in the League Cup.

His double in the 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town last month caught the eye of pundit Chris Sutton, who wrote on X (16 December): “Great derby. Superb goals from Jon Rowe and a good point for David Wagner and Norwich City but the truth is Ipswich Town looked a much better team… still 14 years though…”

Youngster incoming?

West Ham will undoubtedly be up against it in the race for Rowe’s signature, whether that be this month or in the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old attacker is enjoying a superb season at Carrow Road, with Norwich set to be desperate to keep hold of their star youngster.

Home-grown signings could be a key feature of West Ham’s transfer policy in the near future, and Rowe represents a superb option. The winger, who can play on either side, has registered three assists this season alongside his 11 goals.

The Hammers will want the player to improve the former tally should he move to the London Stadium, but they can have no complaints about the latter.

David Moyes does, of course, have the likes of star wingers Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen at his disposal. But Hammers fans would warmly welcome another attacker, particularly with the club trying to be successful across many competitions.

In other West Ham news, two new clubs have joined a January transfer race for one Hammers ace, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
