West Ham United want to sign Manchester City defender Kyle Walker, wages could make deal tricky

West Ham United are monitoring Kyle Walker’s situation at Manchester City and are interested in signing him if he becomes available, according to 90min.

The England international has found himself out of favour under Pep Guardiola in recent weeks, after a change of system meant there was no natural right-back berth.

Walker will have just 12 months remaining on his contract in the summer and with the emergence of Rico Lewis at the Etihad too, the Hammers are interested in signing Walker if he becomes available.

However the 75-cap ace is on big wages in Manchester and those could prove to be a stumbling block in any potential deal, according to the report (7 May).

Yes please

Quality, experience, speed, defensive skill and a threat going forward, Walker has it all.

Vladimir Coufal is the current first-choice option at the London Stadium but his form has blown hot and cold in recent months, while Ben Johnson seems to be out of favour.

But Coufal is out of contract this summer too, and with Walker potentially being available and not regressing much despite his age he could be a shrewd bit of business.

We’ve seen how much adding winners to your squad has helped Arsenal with Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, so doing something similar with Walker could help us get back into contention for Europe and help lift the level of the rest of the squad.

The wages would need to be worked on undoubtedly, but if the deal was on the table and possible then West Ham would be mental to not at the very least take a good look at it.
