West Ham United want to sign Hertha Berlin ‘Jewel’ Ibrahim Maza in ‘Insane’ transfer

West Ham United are one of the clubs interested in signing Hertha Berlin starlet Ibrahim Maza this summer, according to BILD.

Writing on their website (21 May), the German news outlet report that the Hammers are joined by Brighton and Leicester in the race for his signature, with the Bundesliga 2 club open to a sale for around €10m (£8.5m).

That price is considered “insane” right now as he only broke into the team this year, but Maza is considered a “jewel” by the club’s hierarchy and they are sticking to their price tag knowing Premier League clubs are circling the 18-year-old forward.

West Ham United building for the future

The future of the Hammers is looking bright right now, and there is plenty of young talent flying through in east London currently.

George Earthy has made a positive impact while the likes of Freddie Potts is expected to get a chance to prove himself to new manager Julen Lopetegui during pre-season.

But with Divin Mubama expected to leave the club when his contract expires next month, there is a gap for a new young striker to come in and make an impact next season.

Maza is a German youth international but is also eligible to play for Algeria, and he has one goal and two assists this season for Hertha Berlin since breaking into the team.

It’s a big investment on a player so unproven but he is clearly very talented and with other clubs circling, the Hammers may need to pay up quickly to get him ahead of the competition.

In other West Ham news, the club have made an official £22m offer for this “superstar” that Mikel Arteta loves.
