West Ham United want to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja, allowed to leave permanently – David Ornstein
West Ham United want to sign Armando Broja this month after Chelsea became willing to sell him permanently, according to David Ornstein.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (17 January), the reliable Athletic journalist reports that the Blues are open to a sale for the right offer and it doesn’t hinge on signing a replacement.
West Ham, Fulham and Wolves are the clubs most interested in the Albania striker, with David Moyes having a long-term interest in the forward stemming back to before his ACL injury in the summer of 2022.
“Chelsea willing to let Armando Broja leave on permament if suitable offer received,” he wrote.
“Interest from multiple clubs including Fulham, West Ham and Wolves. Not contingent on Chelsea signing replacement and Nkunku expected back soon.”
Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity that has presented itself in the January transfer window, and Broja could well be a shrewd bit of business.
There is no indication of what Chelsea would consider to be a “suitable offer” at this stage, but West Ham need a striker and have done for a while.

After Broja became too difficult to sign and got injured the club moved for Gianluca Scamacca but we all know how that ended, and with Michail Anotnio and Danny Ings not having a long-term future at the London Stadium Broja should look like a fantastic option again.
He has proven his fitness after his serious injury and played fairly regularly for Chelsea this season, but has struggled to find the back of the net. With regular game time and trust though, he could easily explode.
This is what Moyes loves, and West Ham are in the perfect position to pounce and bring him into the club. Get it done Tim Steidten!
