West Ham United want to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface, Tim Steidten ‘really likes’ him

West Ham United want to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface this summer to bolster their striker options for Julen Lopetegui, according to GiveMeSport.

Writing on their website (22 May), the news outlet report that Tim Steidten “really likes” the 23-year-old Nigerian, who has hit 21 goals in 33 appearances for the Bundesliga champions this season.

Leverkusen want to keep him as part of their squad and would only entertain a sale if a bid of more than £47million was tabled, but whether the Hammers would go that high remains unclear.

Victor Boniface would be perfect West Ham United striker transfer

Michail Antonio has been a fantastic servant to the London Stadium and Upton Park before that, but there is no disputing or denying the fact he is past his best.

The 34-year-old Jamaica international is attracting interest from the MLS and Saudi Arabia, while Danny Ings and Divin Mubama also look set to leave the club this summer which makes a new forward even more necessary.

A first-choice option should be the priority to ensure that the club doesn’t go into the new season with Antonio leading the line again, and Boniface would be a sensational bit of business for the club.

Lucas Paqueta is set to leave the club with Manchester City keen on a deal, so that extra cash could see Steidten opt to make that move for Boniface and his skillset would be perfect for the Premier League.

He is fast, strong, mobile, great in the air and a good finisher with both feet so Lopetegui would no doubt love to bring him in and make a statement in his first window as boss.
