West Ham United want Fullkrug and Summerville to travel to USA pre-season together

West Ham United want to sign Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug in time for them to fly out for the club’s US pre-season tour, according to David Ornstein.

The report (31 July) suggests that the club are hopeful they can sign both men, with the intention being for them to fly to the United States to join the first team squad on their tour.

The belief is that West Ham are currently sorting out the final details of a potential Fullkrug deal with Borussia Dortmund (Dharmesh Sheth, 31 July).

Lopetegui’s West Ham surge

The expectation is that the signing of Crysencio Summerville will be completed in time for him to join the tour. Beyond that, the Hammers have already made three summer signings with at least two more seemingly on the way.

Even if they aren’t, Julen Lopetegui has proven how serious he is about improving this squad at both ends of the pitch. They have a handful of strong goalscoring midfielders who can all chip in, but up top, the aim is to bring in another natural forward who can score from just about anywhere.

Given what he’s achieved for Borussia Dortmund and Germany in the last twelve months, we’d say that Lopetegui’s pursuit of Fullkrug is a wise move. He’s strong, he’s efficient, and he scored 12 goals to run alongside eight assists in the Bundesliga alone last season (FBref).

He can do it all – and he’s ready to prove it in the Premier League.
