West Ham United transfers: Said Benrahma set to join Lyon in coming hours, final details settled

Said Benrahma has settled the final details of his move away from West Ham to join Lyon, with a deal to be completed in the “coming hours” according to L’Equipe.

Writing on their website (31 January), the French news outlet has reported that the Algeria international is set to complete his move to Ligue 1 after a deal was agreed between the two clubs.

Benrahma is set to join on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy worth a total of £15m, bringing an end to his three years at the London Stadium.

“West Ham’s Algerian international winger Saïd Benrahma (28 years old, 21 caps, 1 goal), will join Lyon in the coming hours, after having settled final details with his club,” they wrote.

Finally

It’s been a long time coming that Benrahma was going to leave West Ham, with speculation rife throughout the entire January transfer window.

The winger has lost his place in the side to Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus and whenever he has played in the team this season he has failed to make a real impact.

West Ham

With David Moyes keen to strengthen the squad in the attacking areas too it meant he was likely to fall further down the pecking order, so bringing in some cash for him now makes a lot of sense for the Hammers.

The deadline is on Thursday night and if the club are able to bring in a replacement it would be some really good business for West Ham to strengthen the side, and the hope would be he would be able to improve and make more of an impact than Benrahma has been able to.
