West Ham United transfer stance shared as Konstantinos Mavropanos exit ready

West Ham are open to Konstantinos Mavropanos leaving if their valuation is met before the 30 August deadline, according to Sean Whetstone.

The journalist reported via his West Ham Football X account [13 August] that, after signing for the Hammers for £17.1million last summer, £3.5million has fallen off already due to amortisation.

This would mean that the 26-year-old has £13.6million left on the books at the London Stadium, excluding add-ons, with four years remaining on his current contract.

West Ham United to sell Konstantinos Mavropanos?

The Greek centre-back has certainly struggled to settle into life in East London since arriving from VfB Stuttgart, even though he made 33 appearances in all competitions.

Only 16 of those were from the start in the Premier League last term, with David Moyes always preferring Kurt Zouma, with Nayef Aguerd often partnered with him in defence.

However, Julen Lopetegui has already overhauled the squad since Moyes’ departure earlier this summer, with Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo signed as centre-back replacements.

The duo are likely to be the Spaniard’s preferred partnership at the back, with Aguerd being linked with a move away and the Hammers attempting to strike a deal with Shabib Al-Ahli for Zouma.

While the Frenchman has failed his medical with the UAE side due to injury issues [The Times], fans will be hoping that the clubs can come to a resolution over the transfer.

The Hammers’ defence was one of the biggest concerns for Lopetegui heading into the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, but fans will already feel more comfortable with the new faces at the London Stadium.

Of course, the manager will still need to prove himself to the fans after purchasing so many players this summer, especially after the Irons missed out on European football last season.
