West Ham United: Journalist way off the mark with Mohammed Kudus comments after win vs Wolves

Mohammed Kudus continued his impressive start to life at West Ham with a brace in the 3-0 win over Wolves on Sunday (17 December).

The first-half double marked the first time Kudus had scored twice in a single game for United, and made it nine goals in 21 games since arriving.

That type of return is going a long way to justifying the £38million West Ham spent to sign the Ghana international from Ajax three months ago [Sky Sports].

While Kudus was widely hailed for his display, Ghanaian journalist Owuraku Ampofo implied the versatile forward may just be using West Ham as a stepping stone.

“A first ever Premier League brace for Mohammed Kudus,” the 3Sports Ghana reporter posted on his personal Twitter page [17 December].

“The way he’s playing I don’t think he stays at West Ham for long.”

While there is, unfortunately, a clearly defined food chain in the world of football, United will not fear losing Kudus in any of the coming transfer windows.

Declan Rice’s time at London Stadium came to a natural end last summer, while Lucas Paqueta may have moved on in different circumstances.

With Kudus, though, it is different. The 23-year-old is less than half a year into his five-year deal with the Irons, after all.

West Ham fans can enjoy Kudus for a lot longer yet, and hopefully there are now players of a similar quality brought in to join him.

The sad nature of football is that players will inevitably be linked with a move away after some good performances for a club outside the elite.

As Kudus himself said after the Wolves win, as per Modern Ghana [18 December]: “I am loving my football”.

Kudus is playing with a smile on his face and is already a huge fan favourite in East London.

The former Ajax attacker will not be around forever, but nor will he be in a hurry to leave any time soon, regardless of what certain journalists say.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers must forget about a January transfer call as it makes no sense.
