West Ham United transfer news: Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson ‘uneasy’ over Maxwel Cornet move

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is “uneasy” over a Deadline Day move for West Ham attacker Maxwel Cornet, according to Sami Mokbel.

The journalist shared via the Daily Mail’s online transfer blog [1 February, 11:14am] that Hodgson has reservations about proceeding with a move.

With the 11pm deadline for Premier League clubs on 1 February fast approaching, a transfer is said to be “in the balance”.

Mokbel added: “The West Ham attacker has failed to settle at the London Stadium, and is being considered by their rivals in the capital.”

Finding his feet

Cornet is in need of regular first-team action and he is not going to get that at London Stadium in the remainder of the season.

A move to Palace has looked likely, but he will be left at a crossroads if they withdraw their interest as it is surely too late to move elsewhere.

Given West Ham have failed to bring in another attacker this window – a disappointment in itself – retaining Cornet is not the worst outcome.

West Ham

The 27-year-old was on target in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United last time out in a sign of what is possibly to come.

Cornet also assisted a goal recently, so West Ham should only get rid if Palace are willing to offer a decent sum in a permanent deal.

For whatever reason, Hodgson seemingly does not want the Ivorian anyway, so this move could soon be dead in the water regardless.

In other West Ham news, another player is seemingly close to finalising his move away from London Stadium.
