West Ham United transfer news as scout update emerges in £17m transfer race for Chris Fuhrich

West Ham United have begun to scout VfB Stuttgart attacker Chris Fuhrich ahead of the summer transfer window at the London Stadium, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via X (15 March) that the Irons will closely monitor the 26-year-old winger and should Stuttgart qualify for the Champions League, he will have a release clause of £17million (€20million).

However, David Moyes’ side aren’t the only party interested in the German international with Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund all keeping a close eye on Fuhrich’s progress.

Writing on X, he said: “News Führich: West Ham have also started to scout him and will continue to closely monitor the 26 y/o winger from VfB Stuttgart.

“The interest from Leverkusen, Leipzig, and Dortmund is currently more concrete than that of Bayern. Bayern, informed about all details and payment issues but they have not yet declared Führich as a transfer target for the summer!

“In the event of qualification for the Champions League, he would cost around €20m (release clause).”

Could West Ham United win the transfer race for Chris Furich ahead of Bayern Munich?

Moyes was keen to add to his attacking options in the January transfer window and spent much of the month trying to get a deal over the line to bring Ibrahim Osman to East London from Nordsjaelland.

However, the Scotsman was unable to secure a suitable target in the January window and has had to make do with what he has at his disposal from now until the end of the season. Luckily Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen have impressed.

Fuhrich would go a long way to solving the Irons’ problems in the final third as he has been incredibly effective in the Bundesliga this season, scoring seven goals and laying on seven assists in just 25 appearances.

Whether West Ham could beat the likes of Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen to the 26-year-old’s signature remains to be seen, but they are clearly taking this move seriously having sent scouts to watch the winger in action.
