West Ham United transfer news as Scott McTominay push set after Edson Alvarez

West Ham will still push for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay after sealing an agreement for Ajax star Edson Alvarez, according to Dharmesh Seth.

The Sky Sports journalist shared via his personal Twitter account that West Ham are expected to go back in for McTominay, as well as his teammate Harry Maguire, despite reports of rejected bids [Manchester Evening News, 29 July] earlier in the transfer window.

West Ham’s interest in McTominay was met with a high valuation from Manchester United, reported to be around £40million [talkSPORT, 26 July], but that has not put the Hammers off as they continue to press for a deal.

Like London busses

As the saying goes, you wait forever for one and then two come at once. West Ham are still the only club in the Premier League who are yet to do a single transfer deal this summer, but following the agreed deal to sign Alvarez, a move to McTominay may come alongside it.

West Ham are pushing ahead to make multiple new signings in midfield, with Alvarez’ imminent arrival not enough for them to call it a day, with McTominay linked, as is James Ward-Prowse [Evening Standard, 7 August], with the Hammers looking to add depth to their midfield.

West Ham

The East London club are looking to strengthen their entire squad in the closing weeks of this transfer window, not just their midfield. Plenty of rumours are floating around, with Chelsea duo Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja, Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun, and Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke all linked.

It looks like being a busy end to the transfer window for West Ham, as the club scramble to spend the money that is burning a hole in their pockets.
