West Ham United transfer news as Saudi clubs make late Mohammed Kudus moves

The deal for West Ham to sign Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus is now hanging in the balance after Saudi Arabian clubs have made late moves for the player, according to Sky Sports.

The news source shared via their Transfer Centre website on 24 August [16:25] that, although the Hammers are still hopeful of completing the move, an insider has claimed their chances of landing the player are 50/50.

Previous reports had suggested a deal for the Ghanaian midfielder to join the East London club was almost done, but late moves from Saudi Arabia have now thrown a spanner in the works.

West Ham still confident

The report claims that West Ham have retained their optimism in getting this deal over the line, and that should come as good news to fans of the Hammers, who can take solace in the confidence of those close to the deal, despite the 50/50 outcome that has been shared.

Saudi Arabian clubs would likely be able to tempt Kudus with an extortionate wage in comparison to what he would be offered at West Ham, having already tempted some of Europe’s biggest stars with similarly ludicrous wage packages.

The Hammers, however, can offer the potential to be the star player competing at the highest in the Premier League as well as in European competition as the club look to keep up their optimistic goals for the season having won European silverware last time out.

Kudus is no stranger to a late transfer twist this summer, having already seen a move to Brighton fall through at the late stages due to no agreement being reached on personal terms after Ajax set a deadline. This could be yet another twist to the saga.

In other West Ham news, a new striker alternative has emerged despite his expensive price.
