West Ham United transfer news as Konstantinos Mavropanos wants London Stadium move
West Ham transfer target Konstantinos Mavropanos has also attracted interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest but is attracted by a move to the London Stadium, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported via their website on 16 August that the attraction of returning to London with David Moyes’ side is attracting the Greek defender despite the interest elsewhere.
It was also shared that West Ham have also been offered deals for Odilon Koussonou and Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen, but they like Mavropanos as he has Premier League experience, having spent time at Arsenal.
Transfer bosses working together
The deal to bring Mavropanos to the London Stadium appears to be a culmination of both Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten combining their desires, despite reports of disagreements between the two over the summer’s transfer deals.
Steidten’s links in German football have led to the players being offered to West Ham, where they may otherwise not have been involved with these types of deals. The aforementioned Leverkusen duo in particular stand out, as this was Steidten’s former club.
The preference for Premier League experience comes from Moyes’ desires, as he looks to avoid a repeat of the last transfer window in which the Hammers brought in a number of unproven players who struggled with the pace of the division.
Mavropanos is set up nicely for Premier League football and has improved since he made just eight appearances for Arsenal, with his physicality and pace suiting the fast-paced style of the league perfectly.
