West Ham United transfer experts take two trips to watch Middlesbrough ace Hayden Hackney

West Ham United scouts have already made two trips to watch Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney this season, according to TBR Football.

A report published on 21 August claims that the Hammers are among several Premier League clubs interested in a potential move for Hackney, who has impressed over recent seasons at the Riverside Stadium.

The club had previously been credited with an interest in the England Under-21 international, with a figure of £18m reported [The Red, 2 May].

Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Wolves are all said to have the 22-year-old on their radar – he has three seasons remaining on his Middlesbrough deal after signing fresh terms last year.

West Ham looking to continue exciting spree

West Ham may have come up short in their opening Premier League game against a very impressive Aston Villa side, but have exciting prospects to come after their transfer dealings.

It will take time for Julen Lopetegui to effectively integrate all of his new recruits into the side, with only Max Kilman and Guido Rodriguez named in the starting XI last weekend after arriving this summer.

Hackney would add an all-round dynamism to an already gifted midfield at the London Stadium, tending to hold a deep position but enjoying the opportunities he is granted to join the high press [Sofascore].

Having a manager like Michael Carrick – one of the best in English football in a similar midfield berth – will undoubtedly help him continue to develop, and along with being a born Teessider may be the impact that swings it for Boro to keep him another year.

But if the Irons can muster enough money to test their resolve – as has been the case with Crysencio Summerville from the Championship already – a sudden switch cannot be ruled out.
