West Ham United told Max Kilman open to transfer as Wolves name price

West Ham United have seen their hopes raised of signing Max Kilman from Wolverhampton Wanderers with the player said to be open to the move, according to TEAMtalk.

Kilman has been at Wolves since moving from non-league in 2018 and played under new Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui at Molineux, and is reported by the online outlet [19 June] to be willing to reunite with his former boss.

Wolves had previously slapped a price tag of £50million on the 6’4” defender, who is now said to be West Ham’s primary target ahead of next season, with the club “seriously hoping” to secure his signature.

The news that West Ham have identified Kilman as a list-topping transfer target cannot be understated given the busy nature of the club’s recruitment progress in recent weeks.

The Hammers have launched bids for numerous players and remain in talks for various targets, having already sealed the £25m move for Palmeiras teenager Luis Guilherme.

Lopetegui plays merely a supporting cast role in transfers at the London Stadium following the club’s transition to a head coach model, with Tim Steidten heading up player purchases, but the Spaniard will be having a leading role in the chase for his former central defender from Molineux.

From the perspective of 27-year-old Kilman, this summer could be the right time to move on and claim his most lucrative contract yet despite having four years left on his Wolves deal, which maintains his club in a strong position.
