West Ham United told how much Dominic Solanke will cost to sign from Bournemouth
West Ham United have been told it will cost upwards of £50m to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke this summer, according to Chronicle Live.
Writing on their website (24 February), the news outlet report that Newcastle are also interested in the 16-goal striker and have watched him regularly this season with West Ham “front of the queue”.
But Bournemouth have told all interested parties, including the Hammers, that it will cost more than £50m to take him away from the Vitality Stadium in the summer such is his importance to the Cherries.
“Solanke passed an audition on Tyneside last weekend in front of watching head of recruitment Steve Nickson and Eddie Howe by scoring one and making one to take his seasonal tally to 16,” they wrote.
“Since his showing in the 2-2 draw at St James’ Park reports from the capital suggest that West Ham are keen on the striker.
“But it is thought that interested parties have been told that bids north of £50million will only be considered for the ex-Liverpool star.”
Thierry Henry loves Dominic Solanke, so should West Ham
It’s not often that strikers get big praise from someone who was as good as Henry, but he called Solanke “brilliant” not too long ago after his excellent form.
The Hammers have been in desperate need of a reliable striker for several years now, with Gianluca Scamacca flopping after his move and Michail Antonio way past his best now.
Solanke would represent an answer to that jigsaw for sure, but at £50m it would be a real gamble for West Ham to invest in.

There are a lot of areas in the squad that need addressing in the next transfer window and with question marks around the future of David Moyes in charge, committing that much on a player who may not suit the new manager is a huge risk.
It means the club can’t really start working on a deal for him just yet, and with top clubs also showing an interest it could be the difference between securing a deal or missing out.
