West Ham United submit bid for Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic

West Ham United have submitted a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Serbian wing-back Filip Kostic, according to The Sun’s Jack Rosser.

The versatile attacker has a year left on his current deal with the Bundesliga side as David Moyes eyes the Serbian international as a left-back option.

Rosser revealed on Friday 22 July (via Twitter) that a bid has been made but the amount that West Ham have offered for the 29-year-old has yet to be disclosed.

Big signing

This would be a major coup for Moyes and West Ham, with Kostic being one of the most influential wide men in the whole of Europe in the 2021/22 season.

The Serbian was instrumental in the German side’s historic Europa League victory as they beat Rangers on penalties in Seville.

Kostic also featured in both legs of West Ham’s semi-final defeat against the Bundesliga outfit.

The 29-year-old Serbian has proven to be an excellent attacking wing-back with his crossing and direct play a key part of Frankfurt’s success last season.

West Ham

Kostic scored seven goals and provided 15 assists for the Bundesliga side and would be an exciting addition to Moyes’ squad.

He is certainly more attack-minded than Aaron Cresswell and would also allow Moyes to adapt his system between three and four at the back.

This could well be the left-back signing that the West Ham hierarchy are looking for.

The next weeks could prove busy for Moyes and his backroom staff, with talks ongoing between the Hammers and Chelsea striker Armando Broja as well as Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca.
