West Ham United set to battle with Brighton and Hoffenheim to sign Angelino

West Ham are interested in signing Angelino from RB Leipzig but face competition from Brighton and Hoffenheim, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Hammers are keen to sign a left-sided player who can play at left-back, wing-back and potentially winger and have been targeting Frankfurt ace Filip Kostic most recently.

But with the Serbian not so keen on the move, David Moyes is being forced to take a look at alternative targets and the former Manchester City man is the latest name linked with a move.

According to Sky Sports journalist Plettenberg, Brighton are also eyeing the 25-year-old as a replacement for the seemingly Chelsea-bound Marc Cucurella.

Bundesliga club Hoffenheim are hopeful of doing a loan deal to replace David Raum, who joined RB Leipzig in a £25m deal earlier in the window.

Shrewd

Angelino would be a perfect addition to the squad and is arguably an even better signing than Kostic would have been, albeit likely more expensive.

The Spaniard has shown that he is capable of playing at the highest level, shining in the UEFA Champions League and also the Europa League and it was surprising that Leipzig brought in Raum.

West Ham

That means he could be available in a pretty quick deal, as he will be keen for regular first-team football rather than sitting on the bench before a new season.

He has been described as having a “world class” left foot by his former coach and the ability to play in a back-four and as a wing-back would be perfect for Moyes.

His set-piece delivery is excellent too which is something Moyes is very keen on adding to help replace Aaron Cresswell, and this is one West Ham should seriously be considering.
