West Ham United respond as player asks to leave – ExWHUEmployee

West Ham United don’t want to send Kaelan Casey on loan in the winter transfer window, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The Hammers’ insider shared that the defender had asked about leaving the London Stadium on a temporary move until the end of the season.

However, the 20-year-old has been told he’s considered an important part of the first-team squad.

ExWHUEmployee reported on The West Ham Way Patreon [1 February]: “Kaelan Casey had enquired about whether he could go out on loan for the remainder of the season.

“He has been told, however, that alongside Ollie Scarles and Lewis Orford that he is considered an important first-team squad member.”

Graham Potter should give Kaelan Casey more minutes at West Ham

Casey has made just one appearance for the Irons all season, which came as a last-minute substitute in the Premier League against Bournemouth on 16 December.

It’s not surprising to see the youngster struggle for consistent minutes in the first-team setup, considering the transfer activity last summer.

The East London club signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman and Jean Clair-Todibo to bolster their ranks in the previous transfer window.

While West Ham have not reaped the rewards of their recent business, one can’t blame Graham Potter for keeping on relying on the established defenders despite their struggles.

Konstantinos Mavropanos is another quality option at the English manager’s disposal who has been pivotal since Todibo’s injury.

Casey may not be given the minutes he desires at the London Stadium, but the Hammers need to maintain their squad depth until the end of the campaign.

In other West Ham news, a decision has been made after a massive package for Mohammed Kudus from Al Nassr.
