West Ham United: Real Betis make new loan-to-buy bid for Pablo Fornals

West Ham United have received a fresh transfer offer from Real Betis to sign Pablo Fornals before the deadline, according to Ryan Taylor.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (31 January), the Mirror journalist reports that the La Liga club have made a loan-to-buy bid for the attacking midfielder after having an initial bid rejected.

Personal terms have already been agreed with Fornals, who is willing to take a pay-cut in order to push the deal through this month and leave the Hammers.

“Understand Real Betis have submitted fresh offer for Pablo Fornals after West Ham rejected opening bid,” he wrote.

“Believed to be loan plus obligation to buy in summer. Personal terms already in place, Fornals willing to take pay-cut to make transfer happen.”

Let him go

West Ham need reinforcements in the attacking department as it is, but that’s because the likes of Said Benrahma and Fornals aren’t good enough.

While letting them leave the club without new additions already coming in may leave the squad a bit short in some areas, that doesn’t suddenly make them good enough to do what we need them to do.

With Fornals officially out of contract in the summer but the club having an option in his contract to extend it by another year, it’s going to be difficult to get a good fee for him.

This may be the best of some bad options, but ultimately he just isn’t of the required level at this point and a sale makes more sense now than it has done in the past.

Time is running out for this window so it will be difficult to negotiate too much, but hopefully West Ham can get a deal done that works for everyone and bring an end to this saga.
