West Ham United open talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka over potential loan move – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United have opened talks with Manchester United about a potential loan move for right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The former England Under-21 star has been cut adrift at Old Trafford since the arrival of Erik ten Hag – playing just four minutes of Premier League football so far this season.

Wan-Bissaka will reportedly be available on a loan-to-buy deal, and David Moyes’ side are interested in the signing due to Vladimir Coufal’s likely exit from the London Stadium.

The Hammers will face competition from two other Premier League clubs, according to transfer guru Romano, who was speaking on his Here We Go podcast (Monday 19 December).

“The priority is to find a solution for Wan-Bissaka,” said Romano.

“Extend Diogo Dalot’s contract and sell Wan-Bissaka. For Wan-Bissaka, there is a possibility with West Ham, Wolves and Crystal Palace, these three clubs are speaking to Manchester United on a potential loan deal, so let’s see if they find a way.”

Get it done

A loan move for Wan Bissaka makes complete sense for both parties.

West Ham are in dying need of a right-back replacement for Coufal, with Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer having had to fill in on the right flank for large portions of the season to date.

Manchester United, meanwhile, can’t have the 25-year-old sitting on the wage bill and not playing in the first team.

A loan move could therefore tempt the Hammers into a permanent signing if he impresses during a half-season stint at the London Stadium.

This move has many similarities to the highly successful signing of Jesse Lingard in January 2021, with the midfielder wanting to reignite his career and finding a welcome home under Moyes.

If Wan-Bissaka has the drive and determination to get his career back on track is the main question. If he does, then West Ham could be making a very shrewd move.

With Luizao already signing on the dotted line, the right-back could be yet another new name to arrive next month.
