West Ham United on verge of announcing Danny Ings signing from Aston Villa for £15m

Sky Sports are claiming that West Ham United have completed the signing of centre-forward Danny Ings from Aston Villa.

The broadcaster reported via their live transfer blog on Thursday morning (09:12am) that the Irons have paid £15million to sign the 30-year-old.

Sky Sports reported that the deal has been completed but there’s yet to be an announcement from either Villa or the Hammers.

It is understood that a statement is “still to follow”.

Out of nowhere

Villa signed Ings from Southampton in 2021 without anyone having a clue about it beforehand.

And while there have been smatterings of reports about a bid for Ings from West Ham in the last 16 hours or so, this has come as a complete shock.

Ings and his team have worked under the cover of darkness again to move him to a club playing in claret and blue.

And we’re not complaining about it one bit.

Ings is a proven Premier League goalscorer.

Yes, he’s had his injury issues in the past but he seems to be over the worst of them now.

The former Burnley, Liverpool and Southampton striker has 68 goals in 188 Premier League appearances while six of those goals have come this season for Aston Villa.

We’re a bit surprised by Villa’s willingness to sell Ings as they could still be in this relegation battle themselves if they’re not too careful.

But this is a good singing for West Ham and potentially paves the way for Michail Antonio to move on.
