West Ham United not pursuing trio of targets, club hopeful of agreeing deal for Filip Kostic

West Ham are hopeful of agreeing a deal to sign Filip Kostic, but are no longer pursuing deals for Piotr Zielinski, Ben Brereton Diaz and Armando Broja.

The Hammers have been keen to bolster their squad for the coming season and have already completed deals for Nayef Agued, Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes and Gianluca Scamacca.

Now according to Twitter account “WestHamFootball“, run by the editor of Claret and Hugh, the next priority target is Frankfurt left wing-back Kostic while deals for the three attackers have now been halted.

Broja had been the number one striker target this summer before Chelsea made negotiations difficult and the club instead moved for Scamacca. Brereton Diaz was always seen as a backup target and no offer was ever made.

As for Zielinski, the Polish playmaker was someone the club were hopeful of agreeing a deal for but the gap in valuation was too high and the player wasn’t sure on the mood and the club have decided to leave it alone now.

Decisions

Despite the good summer window so far, there are still plenty of signings to come hopefully and that means there are lots of decisions to be made.

Kostic seems to be the priority target for left-back and he seems to be someone that Moyes has his heart set on, but if a deal isn’t there to be done the club have already shown that they are willing to move on to other targets quickly.

Broja and Brereton Diaz make sense to leave now that the signing of Scamacca has been completed, while Zielinski is another that makes sense.

If he isn’t convinced about signing for the club in place of Champions League football and a pay-rise then that’s fair enough, but West Ham don’t need to be begging anyone to join at this point. There are plenty of alternatives.

Now the Kostic deal is at the forefront of our minds, but after him decisions will need to be made on what the next priority is and which people to target.
