West Ham United might have already tabled Arnau Martinez offer

West Ham United might have already tabled a bid for Girona full-back Arnau Martinez, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish newspaper reported via their print edition (8 August, page 32) that, while a bid could have already been made, it is currently unknown how much has been table.

The Hammers have been on the lookout for a new full-back after academy graduate Ben Johnson departed upon the expiry of his contract.

West Ham United signing Arnau Martinez makes a lot of sense

The Hammers are in need of reinforcement at right-back as Johnson’s departure means the only natural senior option they have on that side is Vladmir Coufal.

The Czech Republic international has been a solid pro for the Hammers but full-back is clearly an area they are looking to strengthen.

Hence why the club has been linked with a plethora of names such as Kyle Walker-Peters and Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The Irons have been one of the top-flight’s busiest teams in the transfer market with the likes of Luis Guilherme, Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug through the door.

Despite managing to get a top-half finish last season, it was clear that change was needed across the board and that’s exactly what Lopetegui has brought to the London Stadium.

Nothing is yet set in stone but it would be a major surprise to not see a right-back walk through the doors of West Ham before the 30 August deadline, especially if they wish to make a run for European football.

In other West Ham news, one Hammers man has been singled out as ‘key’ to making the Niclas Fullkrug deal happen.
