West Ham United medical on Thursday for Crysencio Summerville – Fabrizio Romano
West Ham United are close to signing Crysencio Summerville with the Leeds United star undergoing a medical with them on Thursday, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer journalist posted on X [31 July] to report that the Dutchman was pencilled in for the final arrangements of a deal which would take him to the London Stadium.
A deal worth an initial sum of just over £25m plus add-ons has been agreed between the Hammers and Leeds, with personal terms also not a problem [Fabrizio Romano, 31 July].
Summerville is set to become the fourth signing of the transfer window at the club, after Luis Guilherme, Max Kilman and Wes Foderingham.
West Ham secure Summerville coup
Leeds United fans were realistic to the fact Summerville was extremely likely to have played his last competitive game for the club in their Championship play-off final defeat at Wembley.
West Ham fans down the years themselves recognise the pain of missing out on promotion or suffering relegation and subsequently losing plenty of key figures from the squad.
These days, however, the club are higher in the food chain and are looking to add a new flourish to an ever-changing squad under Tim Steidten and drilled by Julen Lopetegui [Dharmesh Sheth, 31 July].
Summerville is a hugely gifted player who showed his ability to rank above second-tier level when he netted 20 goals and claimed nine assists last term.
He still has that rawness which can be fine-tuned by the Hammers’ new Spanish head coach, and adds to an already impressive roster of playmakers at his disposal.
In other West Ham news, the club have presented Lucas Paqueta’s return to the squad on social media.
