West Ham United make new Jhon Duran bid as clause update emerges
West Ham United have submitted an improved £32million bid to try and sign Aston Villa ace Jhon Duran this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist reported via X on Thursday (25 July) that the Irons have upped their initial proposal for the Colombian striker which would see Lewis Orford included in the transfer.
Julen Lopetegui’s side are aiming to match the £40million package that the Villans are looking for and have therefore also included a sell-on clause whilst they continue to work on a deal for Noussair Mazraoui.
Romano had reported earlier on Thursday (25 July) that the Hammers had offered Villa £30million as well as a then-unnamed young player as both sides looked to reach a transfer agreement.
Will Jhon Duran exit Aston Villa amid West Ham United transfer speculation?
The Hammers appear to have their heart set on Duran this summer and while they’re not quite willing to break the bank, they seem to be doing everything in their power to get this deal over the line.
Sell-on clauses are commonplace in the modern footballing world, so it is only natural that the Irons would include such a clause in this transfer to try and tempt Villa into parting ways with the 20-year-old striker.
Hopefully, that extra couple of million alongside the addition of Lewis Orford will be enough to tempt Unai Emery’s side into cashing in on the Colombian international so that Lopetegui can end his search for a new number nine.
Ultimately, this is a lot of money for the Irons to spend on one player, but should Duran finally break West Ham’s striker curse this summer, he will be worth every penny of that transfer fee in goals alone.
