West Ham United make approach to seal Luis Guilherme transfer for £30m
West Ham are in talks to sign Palmeiras talent Luis Guilherme, with negotiations underway ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer journalist reported via X [30 May] that the Hammers have made an approach for a deal worth £30million for the 18-year-old midfielder, with a sell-on clause set to be included.
The Irons are awaiting the next steps with the Brazilian club, while they are also set to decide soon on Fabricio Bruno after the defender turned down the club’s latest contract offer.
West Ham United take one step closer to Luis Guilherme transfer
The young Brazilian is an extremely exciting prospect despite only making 43 senior appearances since making a breakthrough at Palmeiras in December 2022.
The Brazilian club seem to be a factory for young talents, including the likes of 17-year-old Endrick, and Guilherme looks to be no different as the Hammers close in on the signing of him this summer.
Under Julen Lopetegui’s reign, West Ham are set for a summer of change, especially after the number of problems that emerged under David Moyes this season, and Guilherme could be the first addition.
With Edson Alvarez being the only natural defensive midfielder, the Irons will be keen to add more squad depth ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, especially with James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek covering.
The January addition of Kalvin Phillips is one that did not work out this season, having made just 10 appearances in all competitions, while Flynn Downes was sent out on loan to Southampton.
Downes could be an ideal addition to Lopetegui’s squad but it seems much more likely that he will return to St Mary’s Stadium on a permanent deal.
Guilherme would set the tone at the London Stadium before the transfer window opens, with several teams keeping tabs on the situation.
