West Ham United learn Omar Alderete stance for new January transfer

West Ham United will not be able to sign Omar Alderete from Getafe in January, according to Eduardo Burgos.

The Diario AS journalist reported on his personal X account [10 December] that the Hammers have an eye on the centre-back — with Luizo attracting interest from Brazil [Radio Inferno, 10 December].

But the Spanish outfit have blocked any sale in the upcoming transfer window, although things could change in the summer, with Atletico Madrid also interested.

It remains to be seen how the next month unfolds for the Irons as Baris Asper Yilmaz is another target the East London Club are monitoring [TBR, 9 December].

West Ham United don’t need Omar Alderete in January

The Hammers signed the likes of Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the summer.

Tim Steidten gave the London Stadium faithful a fruitful transfer window, but unfortunately, none of the signings have lived up to expectations so far.

The Irons are struggling in the Premier League, having lost seven games in the current campaign, and sit 14th in the table.

West Ham also have Konstantinos Mavropanos in their ranks, but the Greece international has put in some poor performances lately.

The lack of quality has been seen throughout the Hammers’ team, and Julen Lopetegui needs to be questioned as a result.

For now, the Spaniard seems to retain David Sullivan’s faith, but he already has enough central defenders, making the signing of Alderete unnecessary.

If Lopetegui does leave in the coming weeks and the Hammers appoint a new manager, then it would be prudent to wait before deciding on reinforcements in the upcoming window.
