West Ham United in talks for Dan Ndoye as summer transfer ‘will move’ in days – Fabrizio Romano

West Ham United are one of a number of clubs tracking young Swizterland forward Dan Ndoye, with talks due in days over a summer move according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Hammers are in the market to bolster their squad this summer as they prepare to play in the Europa League, with Declan Rice set to leave for Arsenal in a £105m move.

And now Basel forward Ndoye has emerged as a target for David Moyes according to reliable journalist Romano, who says talks will take place in the coming days after his participation in the Under-21 European Championships came to an end.

“Talks are taking place for Dan Ndoye as things will move in the next days as now U21 Euros are over for him,” he wrote on his personal Instagram account (2 July).

“West Ham, Everton, Sporting, Porto and AS Monaco are tracking Swiss forward young talent; he was part of the team of the season in Conference League.”

Quality

The 22-year-old had a bit of a breakthrough season for Basel in the 2022/23 campaign, with seven goals and five assists in 54 appearances across all competitions.

But while the numbers may not look to impressive it was a super run of performances that saw him claim a place in the team of the season in the Conference League, a competition West Ham fans will forever remember fondly.

It’s been well documented that the club want to strengthen in attack, with links to Harvey Barnes strong. But the likelihood is that at least two of Michail Antonio, Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings will be leaving too.

That means the team need to find goals from somewhere, which was hard enough last season when the top scorer had only 13 goals.

Ndoye would be an investment for the future but also someone who could be a bit of a wildcard heading into the new campaign, although there is clearly a lot of competition for his signature.
