West Ham United in advanced talks to sign Leeds United star Summerville – Dharmesh Sheth
West Ham United are in advanced talks over a deal to sign Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The Sky Sports News journalist reported via X on Wednesday (31 July) that the Hammers are “hopeful” of striking a deal for the 22-year-old, who was named as the Championship Player of the Season for 2023/24.
It is understood that personal terms are not expected to be an issue for West Ham to sign the Dutch winger.
West Ham close to massive new signing from Leeds United
Summerville has been linked with Leeds throughout the summer transfer window and it finally looks as though Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are closing in on their man.
Hammers fans shouldn’t get too excited just yet because we’ve already seen this summer on a number of occasions how the Irons have failed to close deals that looked like they were there for the taking.
David Sullivan hasn’t loosened the pursestrings too much but he is giving Steidten the money he needs to make serious additions to the squad for Lopetegui.
And Summerville would be one.
Last season, the Netherlands Under-21 international scored an incredible 21 goals and supplied 10 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for Leeds.
He’s quick, he’s skilful, he has a real eye for goal and would be a great long-term addition to the West Ham squad on the opposite side of their attack to Jarrod Bowen.
Neutral fans will need to keep an eye on this one if it goes through because Summerville could tear up the Premier League next season.
In other West Ham news, Tammy Abraham has made a decision ahead of a possible move to the London Stadium.
