West Ham United in advanced talks to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka as double swoop nears

West Ham United are in advanced talks to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka to join Jean-Clair Todibo in a new-look defence, according to talkSPORT’s Jackson Cole.

As reported by Cole on Wednesday afternoon [17 July], the Irons are set to secure a deal for Wan-Bissaka with Manchester United chasing a fee of over £15m for the right-back – preparing to take a loss of up to £35m.

Nice defender Todibo is also the subject of a £30.2m option to buy, preceded by a loan deal [Santi Aouna, 17 July], for Julen Lopetegui’s side – despite the Frenchman’s preference for a move to Juventus.

West Ham want defensive duo

If West Ham were to pull off the double coup of Wan-Bissaka and Todibo, it would certainly make rivals stand up and take notice.

The club have already splashed £40m on Wolves captain Max Kilman amid a squad rebuild mission ongoing this summer, and are expecting multiple outgoings as they look to move to the next level.

Manchester United’s willingness to let Wan-Bissaka depart for a much lower fee than which took him to Old Trafford from Crystal Palace shows it’s time for a new chapter for the player, although he does have just a year remaining on his contract.

Todibo’s desire for Juve may be understandable, but a new beginning at the London Stadium may benefit his career further in the long run from a personal point of view.

Tim Steidten has been bold in his approach and it is slowly beginning to bear fruit, as the Hammers close in on two new targets.
