West Ham United have ‘seriously overspent’ – senior Hammers source

West Ham are unlikely to sign Carlos Soler after a club source suggested the club have overspent, according to Sean Whetstone.

A senior source from the Hammers has commented on the transfer spend with West Ham Football sharing this via X on 15 August.

They said: “We’d like to sign him but we can’t afford the signing-on fee or the wages, we have seriously overspent this summer.”

This means that the Irons are now unlikely to sign Soler due to his £107,000-per-week wages at PSG.

West Ham to miss out on Carlos Soler

Julen Lopetegui has had a busy summer ahead of his debut season at the London Stadium which has been met by plenty of excitement.

The squad has had an overhaul thanks to the work of Tim Steidten who has taken charge of transfers since David Moyes’ departure.

One signing it looks like he won’t be able to complete is Soler due to his hefty wages at the Parc des Princes.

The midfielder has had a tough time since making the move to Paris but with his salary being on the high side, the Hammers have to turn their attention elsewhere.

It is unclear whether a new centre midfield option is needed right now after already bringing in Guido Rodriguez from Real Betis.

There is a chance that a star such as Tomas Soucek could be on his way out and Soler could prove to be that replacement option.

It looks like, in this transfer window at least, the Irons won’t be bringing in the Spaniard.

In other West Ham news, another striker signing could be made after Niclas Fullkrug update.
