West Ham United given boost in Aaron Wan-Bissaka chase as Manchester United make transfer decision – Sky Sports

West Ham have been handed a boost in their chase of Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka after they began looking at a deal for Sergino Dest, according to Sky Sports.

The Athletic reported on Monday 29 August claimed that West Ham have had an approach for the former Crystal Palace defender turned down recently as the club weren’t willing to let him leave without a replacement, and the feeling was there wasn’t enough time to do a deal.

However according to reporter Dharmesh Sheth, United are now looking at a deal for Barcelona full-back Sheth and if they are able to secure a move, they will allow Wan-Bissaka to leave the club before Thursday’s deadline.

The Hammers are keen to add more players to their squad before the transfer window closes, with ExWHUemployee reporting [30 August] there have been concerns over the form of Vladimir Coufal meaning David Moyes is interested in bringing in a right-back.

It’s believed that West Ham are keen on a loan deal while United would prefer to do a permanent deal.

Defender

Moyes likes attacking full-backs who are capable of helping out in the final third, but Wan-Bissaka would be a huge upgrade in their defence when it comes to actually defending.

Man United paid £50m for the right-back in 2019 but he has failed to develop the attacking side of his game adequately and lost his place in the first team to Diogo Dalot midway through last season.

West Ham

West Ham have got plenty of options in defence currently with Coufal, Johnson, Cresswell and Emerson taking up the spots but Wan-Bissaka would come in and provide an added bit of defensive stability for the big games to shore the team up.

However unless an exit was likely to take place, or the club plan on using Johnson as a centre back more regularly this season as they did at the start of the campaign, then it seems like a weird transfer.

Regardless of whether it makes sense, if West Ham are interested still which they seem to be, then they will be cheering Man United on in their pursuit of Dest to bolster their chances of another signing.
