West Ham United figures fly out ‘as Evan Ferguson upgrade found’

Evan Ferguson has struggled since joining West Ham on loan.

The Irish striker has featured six times for the Hammers but has not hit the back of the net to open his account at the London Stadium.

The 20-year-old was an unused substitute for the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth (5 April) and has struggled to establish himself with the Irons.

A summer move for the Brighton loanee looks unlikely and Graham Potter may be forced to look at alternatives in the summer transfer window.

West Ham find Ferguson replacement in France

If West Ham don’t sign Ferguson, they will need a new striker to carry them into the new season, a campaign that will have plenty of expectation on it.

A report from Give Me Sport (10 April) claims that members of the Hammers’ recruitment staff have been sent to France to scout Strasbourg’s Emanuel Emegha.

It states that the Ligue 1 outfit are looking for a fee of around £22million for the 22-year-old, who has 12 goals and four assists this season.

Ferguson is not the answer for West Ham

It remains to be seen whether the pursuit of Emegha is successful but one is for sure, Ferguson is not the answer to the Irons’ forward woes.

While the Irishman is a very promising player, he is too injury-prone and has not had the desired impact in East London, failing to notch a single goal and playing just six times.

Potter needs attacking reinforcements that he can rely on, that will produce on a consistent basis. Right now, that is not Ferguson and there are surely questions about whether it ever will be, given that his highest ever tally in a Premier League season is six.

It may well but in the future but Potter does not have the time to wait and see and a permanent move for the young Seagulls star does not make sense as the former Chelsea manager is attempting to take the Irons back towards European qualification.

Understandably, the Hammers are looking elsewhere as Ferguson has been nothing but disappointing when he has donned the Claret and Blue shirt.
