Harry Souttar is the latest name to emerge as West Ham United prepare to start their transfer window.

After relegation to the Championship, Nuno Espirito Santo was always going to need to sell players.

But, what most didn't expect at the London Stadium was that it would halt any incoming transfer action.

West Ham are yet to sign any new faces, with Keiber Lamadrid's loan turning permanent their only action.

Mateus Fernandes was sold to Tottenham for £85million, and Crysencio Summerville is bound for Roma within days.

That should finally unlock the Hammers, with Souttar emerging as a very popular figure right now.

Currently at Leicester City, Souttar looks destined to leave before the League One season kicks off.

The Daily Record has reported that West Ham are not only interested, but are the favourites for his signature.

It's said that Souttar is one of the higher earners at the King Power, and the Foxes are ready to listen to big offers.

Souttar wants to keep playing at the highest level after captaining Australia at the World Cup, and West Ham could offer that.

Nuno wants players with experience of not only the second-tier, but the Premier League as well.

Why are West Ham tracking defenders?

West Ham Zone has heavily covered West Ham's hunt for new defenders.

Another Leicester City player in Ben Nelson, has been linked with the Irons, and is said to be available for £10m.

But, given that no defenders have been sold yet at the London Stadium, why is that?

Konstantinos Mavropanos is a prime candidate to be sold, with the Greek international a real Premier League standout last season.

On top of that, Axel Disasi has returned to Chelsea and Jean-Clair Todibo has publically fallen out with Nuno.

Add Max Kilman to the mix, who simply isn't trusted, and West Ham don't have many, if any reliable options left.
